Join AIANY and DOCOMOMO US/New York Tri-State for a book talk on The Edith Farnsworth House: Architecture, Preservation, Culture. The book charts the Farnsworth house from its original design by Mies van der Rohe through its 20 years as a publicly accessible site owned and administered by the National Trust for Historic Preservation—neglect, floods and multiple owners in between. Michelangelo Sabatino, the book’s author, and Alice Friedman will speak, foregrounding the role of client Edith Farnsworth. Barry Bergdoll will moderate.

For Pride Month, three historic house museums in the art and design worlds—The Glass House, the Alice Austen House, and the Demuth Museum—are coming together to discuss efforts at the forefront of the movement to landmark and celebrate significant LGBTQ sites including historic house museums, as well as explore the personal identities of LGBTQ artists.

The Glass House is hosting a book talk with the authors of Midcentury Houses Today at the New Canaan Library. The book focuses on the evolving legacy and adaptive reuse of 17 of New Canaan, CT’s most notable Modern. The authors will explore the expanded and updated edition of this 2014 classic and follow with a book signing.
