The Glass House in New Canaan, CT, officially opened its 2026 tour season on April 16, welcoming visitors back to the iconic 49-acre pastoral landscape. After an extensive restoration completed in 2024, the Brick House—Philip Johnson’s opaque guest house and the architectural “other half” to the Glass House—now ensures that the building’s unique interior features and structural integrity are preserved for future generations, allowing the site to be viewed as Johnson originally intended. Starting this season, the Brick House is featured on all tours, ranging from the concise one-hour experience to the more comprehensive three-hour in-depth explorations that include the Painting Gallery, Sculpture Gallery, outdoor sculpture, Philip Johnson’s Studio, Da Monsta, and the 2026 special exhibitions. A two-hour Golden Hours tour is available on six dates in 2026. This special tour shows how the lighting design by Richard Kelly transforms the Glass House as the sun sinks in the sky and is formulated to facilitate photography (for personal use). Tours run through December 14, and due to high demand for the newly restored spaces, advance reservations through the Visitor Center are highly recommended. Details
