NY State Pavilion awarded $16.5 million FEMA grant for repairs

January 18, 2019

New York State senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand have announced that FEMA funding will be provided to the New York Office of Management and Budget to replace and repair the New York State Pavilion’s electric units at World’s Fair Park in Queens, which were damaged during Hurricane Sandy. The $16.5 million in funding will also be used for flood protection measures to prevent damage in future storms. This work will continue recent efforts to shore up and restore the iconic pavilion, including waterproofing the towers and other structural enhancements that were completed earlier last year.
