May 18, 2021

DOCOMOMO US/New York Tri-State seeks board candidates. This is an opportunity for individuals who are passionate about Modern architecture and design. We will prioritize board candidates who have experience in non-profit administration, preservation advocacy, accounting, fundraising or communications. We encourage applicants of diverse experiences, including, but not limited to, diverse racial/ethnic backgrounds, early career individuals, and individuals located outside New York City in NY, NJ or CT.

DOCOMOMO US/New York Tri-State is a local chapter of Docomomo US, which is a national working group of DOCOMOMO, an international organization founded in 1988 in The Netherlands. The organization is now active in 69 countries. Our mission is to increase public awareness and appreciation of Modern movement architecture, landscape and urban design; to identify and document local examples; and to advocate for the protection of those determined most significant. For over 20 years, the chapter has been advancing this mission in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. The chapter is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

More on the Board:

The board supports the work of the local chapter which has no paid full-time staff members. This is a working board and active participation is expected for six board meetings each year as well as participating in at least one of the organization’s areas of focus (Advocacy, Programs/Events, Administration, Communications). Service on the board is on a volunteer basis without compensation.

In addition to board meetings, board members are expected to attend some of the chapter’s public programs. They are also required to be dues-paying members of the chapter and are encouraged to make an annual financial contribution that is commensurate with their capacity. We ask each incoming board member to make an initial two-year commitment.

To express interest in joining the board, please send a resume and cover letter to info@docomomo-nytri.org by July 1 or contact info@docomomo-nytri.org with any questions.
