Another Modern Loss in the Hamptons: Otto and Eloise Spaeth House Demolished

The Otto and Eloise Spaeth House in the Hamptons has been demolished. The shingle-style house was designed in 1956 by George Nelson (1908–1986) and Gordon Chadwick (1915–1980) for industrialists and art collectors Otto and Eloise Spaeth. The home’s main floor included a bedroom, study, living room, dining room, and kitchen. On the second floor were two more bedrooms and a hallway featuring an OMNI shelf system designed by George Nelson that presented part of the Spaeth’s art collection. It was especially known for its rear, oceanside shingle wall. It’s unfortunate that all that remains in the home’s support structure. Read the full story reported by Docomomo US.
