Alvar Aalto’s Kaufmann Conference Center will be preserved in pieces and recreated for future exhibition

The Alvar Aalto Foundation, Consulate General of Finland in New York, Finnish Cultural Institute in New York and managing firm Office of Tangible Space recently shared a press release announcing the disappointing fate of the Kaufmann Conference Center, one of Finnish architect Alvar Aalto’s five realized works in the US and the only remaining in NYC.

Eight historic sites receiving 2024 Conserving Black Modernism grants

The National Trust for Historic Preservation’s African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund and The Getty Foundation announced eight more endangered sites that will be receiving crucial funding as part of a $3.1 million conservation grant program: Conserving Black Modernism. Two sites are located in Buffalo, NY.
