This Municipal Art Society virtual tour will examine highlights of Modern architecture and public art in Manhattan’s Financial District created from the 1960s through the 1980s. It will begin with two International Style masterworks by Pritzker Prize winner Gordon Bunshaft of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), One Chase Plaza, now 28 Liberty Street, and the former Marine Midland Bank Building. In addition to other Modern buildings designed by SOM, James Ingo Freed, and Emery Roth & Sons, it will visit Postmodern works from former modernists Kevin Roche and Philip Johnson.
