Located in central Brooklyn, between Ocean Parkway and Nostrand Avenue, Midwood is peppered with unsung Art Deco treasures. Join The Art Deco Society of New York and architectural historian Matt Postal to discover this large and leafy neighborhood, particularly the avenues where modernist apartment houses dominate many intersections.

While virtually exploring Midwood, Postal will focus on Avenues L and N, as well as Ocean Avenue and Kings Highway. Peek inside a memorable group of lobbies, including stylish spaces decorated with ornamental Art Deco plaster reliefs, acid-etched glass, colorful patterned terrazzo, and dream-like murals. The tour will also consider several striking commercial structures, as well as an elegant 1932 bank with a restored interior by Halsey McCormack & Helmer.

Architectural historian Matt Postal, leads walking tours throughout New York City. Specializing in 19th and 20th century architecture, he teaches graduate courses at the New York School of Interior Design.
