The Modern House Day Tour + Symposium will take place on Friday October 22 and Saturday October 23. Friday attendees at this New Caanan Museum & Historical Society event will visit both The Glass House and a second architectural gem in New Canaan. On Friday evening there will be a cocktail reception and presentation at the newly-renovated BassamFellows Headquarters and Showroom, originally designed by Philip Johnson. Built as an administration building for Schlumberger in Ridgefield, CT in 1952, its renovation received a Design Citation of Merit in the 2019 DOCOMOMO US Modernism in America awards.
On Saturday, the program includes a morning symposium organized by Cole Akers, Curator + Special Projects Manager, The Glass House. The symposium will be followed by lunch, an afternoon tour of a selection of New Canaan’s modern houses, and an evening cocktail reception where architects, designers, and others can gather at the end of the day’s activities.
