The popular Modern House Day, a biennial event organized by the New Canaan Historical Society, returns this fall.

As a kick-off to Saturday’s Modern House Day Tour, an evening gathering on Friday October 20, allows visitors to explore one of the finest midcentury modern homes in New Canaan—a Philip Johnson gem that’s not the Glass House—enjoy conversation with the architects and docents who cherish New Canaan’s modern architecture.

The tour day starts with registration Saturday morning, and an opportunity to see Circle, Triangle, Square: The Architecture of Myron Goldfinger which will be on exhibit at the Museum (opening 10/14), as well as the restored reredos at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. Lunch follows with keynote speaker Jorge Otero-Pailos, Director and Professor of Historic Preservation at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation. Participants will then board small buses to visit four private homes, returning to the Museum for a reception from 5:00-7:00 pm.
