The Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy’s 2021 conference, Interpreting Wright, will focus on the preservationists who work to interpret Wright for public audiences, with a special emphasis on visitor centers and public education as integral aspects of historic preservation. Returning to an in-person format the conference will take place in Buffalo, NY.
Historic preservation relies on visitor centers and public education programs as integral aspects of its mission. With the introduction of new digital technologies, public education programs are undergoing a revolution. At the same time, visitor centers continue to function in traditional ways: as ticketing and staging areas, gift shops and bookstores, cafeterias and even restaurants. Their intention has always been to introduce visitors to the relevant historical context while also serving as significant sources of income for the site’s maintenance.
The silent auction is one of the Conservancy’s most popular annual fundraisers, typically taking place online each year in conjunction with the Conservancy’s Annual Conference. The auction offers rare Wright memorabilia, artwork, collectibles, experiences at Wright sites, books, and more. All proceeds from the auction support the conservancy’s mission of preserving Wright’s remaining structures.
The 2021 silent auction will open at 12:00pm ET on Tuesday, October 12. The Silent Auction is open to everyone; attendance at the Annual Conference is not required. If you wish to donate an item, please click the button below for the online donation form, which must be submitted by September 1. Visit the auction page for more information.
