Visit the Bundy Modern, a small gem of a building in Waitsfield, VT. The gallery building, from 1962, was designed by Harlow Carpenter, Harvard GSD class of ’56 and sponsor of Le Corbusier’s Carpenter Center for Visual Arts. The Gallery’s park-like grounds feature sculpture from the 1960s.
Carpenter was present at Harvard during the time of Walter Gropius, Josep Lluís Sert, Marcel Breuer, and others. His structured International style was in sharp contrast to other architects in the Mad River Valley at the time, namely Yale’s Dave Sellers, who also made his mark here in a very different way.
This event is part of Docomomo US Tour Day 2022.
