On this Wildwood’s Doo Wop Preservation League trolley tour, visitors can discover the fun and whimsical origins of 1950s America in the Wildwoods, the most populated area of mid-century resort architecture this side of the Mississippi. Wildwoods features a unique collection of seaside motels and neon signs.
Tour participants will learn about mid-century architecture as well as the neon of motels and businesses around the island. See the juxtaposition of both new and old architecture, and learn about the design style of the mid-20th century resort architecture known as “Doo Wop.”. Arrive early to browse the museum.
The Doo Wop Preservation League is a non-profit organization founded in 1997 whose educational mission is to foster awareness and appreciation of the popular culture and imagery of the 1950s and 1960s, and to promote the preservation of the largest collection of mid-20th century resort architecture (known as “Doo Wop” architecture) found in America today.
